Like sunscreen for your house. When you are painting the outside of your house it’s all about the UV protection. IF you are painting items in the hot sun then better UV is more critical than in the shade. Clear coats have less UV protection and would need more frequent application than solid colors meaning they will break down faster in the sun and need repainting more often.
