How to Pick Colours?

There are two important things about picking colour.

Isolation
Elimination

1. When you are looking at colours make sure you are considering the colour against something that is staying. Don’t hold it against a wall that you are changing colours on. When we compare colours our brain tries to decide if it likes them together. So if you hold a pale green against a pink wall the green you may end up with a colour your don’t like but a colour you really liked with the pink. The pink will influence the green and make it look different than when it is standing alone. Chances are the green will look less green once the pink is no longer on the walls

2. We, as humans, seem to have a hard time committing to things. “What if there is a better colour?” “What if I don’t like this colour?” If you take all the possible colours you would like to have and then get rid of them one at a time you will be left with about 3 colours… spend time with these three colours, chances are any of them will be good but one will be a little bit better. Look at them in different areas of the room and at different times of the days. The one colour you are left with is the one you should have… not because you chose it but because it’s the only one left.

Good luck, have fun and remember YOU are the one that is paying for the paint and living with it every day so don’t let people tell you what you like.
